The IPFW RiverFest Mission
The mission of IPFW RiverFest is to preserve, protect and promote Fort Wayne’s rivers by raising awareness through education and fun. This event will stimulate interest in preserving our city’s rivers and supporting initiatives of the Fort Wayne Friends of the River.
In the words of Dan Wire, Fort Wayne’s “River Man”
A long time ago, in a famous film, we were all told not to look behind the curtain. I would like to offer you a quick peek behind the curtain.
Be careful – IPFW RiverFest is sneaky. Most people in the region just think it’s the best, most fun, always improving, first of the summer festival, where they can visit with their 20,000 closest friends.
What’s really happening is a powerful partnership between generous sponsors, organizations and attendees to crystalize the brand of our region – Water!
A recent study titled Soul of a Community – Why People Love Where They Live and Why It Matters: a National Perspective, presented in 2010, the first year of River Fest, simply identified the elements that relate directly to an individual’s quality of life: an area’s physical beauty, opportunities for socializing, and a community’s openness to all people – IPFW RIVERFEST!!
This event is open to everyone. Much work goes into keeping almost everything free for the attendees. With the multitude of activities, morning – noon – and night, from a quiet thought provoking canoe paddle to an all-out rock and roll show everyone can find common ground to socialize, interact and learn from one another. The physical beauty of being around a body of water is unsurpassed.
After all – Water is the tonic of life.
IPFW RiverFest offers each and every attendee the opportunity to learn about the waters and how to become involved in improving our waters. They can run, walk or sit along the waters, enjoy a relaxed pontoon ride or strive for victory in a canoe, kayak or cardboard boat race. They can learn the skills of kayaking or canoeing for the very first time or watch others who have mastered talents to build hovercrafts, race boats, waterski or land planes on water.
The partnerships that have grown between the organizers of IPFW RiverFest are unbelievable!
From the Millennial’s to the Young Leaders to the Statesmen of our community
From the FFA to the EPA (Future Farmers of America to the Environmental Protection Agency)
From small art studios to corporate giants
This mission is the same: Provide a welcoming opportunity, for everyone to interact and share, in a beautiful setting.
IPFW RiverFest 2013!!
So, be careful. Just when you think all you’re doing is having a great time, you are in fact, contributing to the greatest positive economic impact a 21st century community can have – Quality of Life!
Thank you for your participation in what happens behind the curtain.
